Ngee Ann Lifeguard Corps will be holding an Introduction to Open Water by Coach Mr Daryl Tan Kiok Wei. Things we'll be doing includes canoeing/surf board and etc. Not forgetting we'll be carrying out a photo shoot for coming CCA fiesta. If you want your face all over Ngee Ann please do come. Following are the details...

Date: 18 April 2009
Time: 10am-12pm (After 12pm will Changi Village MAKAN, SEE WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE xD)
Venue: Changi Rescue Centre (Near Changi Jetty)
Meeting Place 1: Jurong East Mrt Station - 8am
Meeting Place 2: Tampines Mrt Station - 9am

Everyone should be punctual, we'll not wait for any latecomers as the event would be start promptly at 10am

All BM and above holders are to go for this event, as a start as we'll be going for open water competition this year.
LS123 holders are encouraged to attend this event, as most will be taking the test soon.

Alumni are warmly welcomed to join us.

Classes Conducted

Lifesaving 1, 2, 3 (LS123)
This class introduces the basic skills and knowledge of water safety and lifesaving and is the pre-requisite to taking the Bronze Medallion. Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate.

Bronze Medallion (BM)
This class trains you for the Bronze Medallion which is recognized as a flagship award for lifesaving. This class will develop a basic level of proficiency in knowledge, understanding and practical ability for aquatic rescue situations. Successful candidates will receive CPR and BM certification.

Award of Merit (AM)
This is a progression from the Bronze Medallion and develops a proficient level of knowledge, understanding and practical ability in aquatic rescue situations. The successful candidate will receive SNR and AM certification.

Distinction Award (DA)
This is a progression from Award of Merit and establish an advanced standard of all round knowledge, skills and ability in aquatic rescue situations. The successful candidate will receive the highest qualification that can be attained in our club.

Other lifesaving awards that are trained and assessed at an open water facility:

Bronze Cross (BM)
Designed to develop competent lifesaving and emergency care abilities for qualified lifesavers in open water conditions, this award requires a Bronze Medallion qualification.

Silver Cross (SC)
A step up from BC, SC is designed to develop advanced lifesaving and emergency care abilities for qualified lifesavers in open water rescues.
