12hours soaked in chlorine!

So, NTU Swimfest came and went.

Day One (Friday 4th March 1500hrs) was the Mass Swim (Individual).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Two (Saturday 5th March 0710hrs) was the 12hours Swimathon (Team of 5).

3 teams from NPLS were went namely:

NPLS1: KaiJun, Christopher, Wei Qiang, Wei Long, Yi Jie
NPLS2: Cheng Han, Bo Kang, Weiting, Jun Cheng, Nigel
NPLS3: Nathaniel, Yi Shu, Yi Heng, Zikun, Emmeline

Very strong perseverance and team spirit emerged and well, marvellous effort guys, with NPLS 3 clinching an honourable 4th, just shorting of 100m to the 3rd position! :D

Excellent effort guys! Next stop, BM/AM/Friendly/Competitions :)

Classes Conducted

Lifesaving 1, 2, 3 (LS123)
This class introduces the basic skills and knowledge of water safety and lifesaving and is the pre-requisite to taking the Bronze Medallion. Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate.

Bronze Medallion (BM)
This class trains you for the Bronze Medallion which is recognized as a flagship award for lifesaving. This class will develop a basic level of proficiency in knowledge, understanding and practical ability for aquatic rescue situations. Successful candidates will receive CPR and BM certification.

Award of Merit (AM)
This is a progression from the Bronze Medallion and develops a proficient level of knowledge, understanding and practical ability in aquatic rescue situations. The successful candidate will receive SNR and AM certification.

Distinction Award (DA)
This is a progression from Award of Merit and establish an advanced standard of all round knowledge, skills and ability in aquatic rescue situations. The successful candidate will receive the highest qualification that can be attained in our club.

Other lifesaving awards that are trained and assessed at an open water facility:

Bronze Cross (BM)
Designed to develop competent lifesaving and emergency care abilities for qualified lifesavers in open water conditions, this award requires a Bronze Medallion qualification.

Silver Cross (SC)
A step up from BC, SC is designed to develop advanced lifesaving and emergency care abilities for qualified lifesavers in open water rescues.
