Are YOU Ready For FOC?!

HELLO LIFESAVERS!

ARE YOU READY FOR FOC?!

I hope you are as PSYCHED up as we are about FOC! CAUSE IT IS GONNA BE AWESOME!

Anyways! A few things to note if you are coming for the Camp

Firstly do bring a set of school related clothing for the BBQ. As we are all going to be wearing our secondary school uniforms on that night.

Secondly for GLs and Committee Members. If you do not want to lug your bag around school on Thursday. Meet Wei Qiang at Blk 73 on the morning of the 28th at 7.30am SHARP! To place your bags in the lion dance club room for safekeeping.

Thirdly GLs and Committee Members who have finished class earlier than 4pm, do meet Me (Melvin) at the Atrium at 4.15pm as we do require some help. Alternatively if you are unable to meet me. Do report to the loft by 6pm latest.

Classes Conducted

Lifesaving 1, 2, 3 (LS123)
This class introduces the basic skills and knowledge of water safety and lifesaving and is the pre-requisite to taking the Bronze Medallion. Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate.

Bronze Medallion (BM)
This class trains you for the Bronze Medallion which is recognized as a flagship award for lifesaving. This class will develop a basic level of proficiency in knowledge, understanding and practical ability for aquatic rescue situations. Successful candidates will receive CPR and BM certification.

Award of Merit (AM)
This is a progression from the Bronze Medallion and develops a proficient level of knowledge, understanding and practical ability in aquatic rescue situations. The successful candidate will receive SNR and AM certification.

Distinction Award (DA)
This is a progression from Award of Merit and establish an advanced standard of all round knowledge, skills and ability in aquatic rescue situations. The successful candidate will receive the highest qualification that can be attained in our club.

Other lifesaving awards that are trained and assessed at an open water facility:

Bronze Cross (BM)
Designed to develop competent lifesaving and emergency care abilities for qualified lifesavers in open water conditions, this award requires a Bronze Medallion qualification.

Silver Cross (SC)
A step up from BC, SC is designed to develop advanced lifesaving and emergency care abilities for qualified lifesavers in open water rescues.
